Peonies at Mother’s Day
Year after year it is hard to come up with something unique and special to do for Mom to honor and celebrate her position in your life. At Tangleweed, we are fortunate to have the influence of giant, bright blooms of peony flowers throughout this period of the year. A bundle of these blossoms makes the perfect gift for Mother’s Day, if you ask us.
Although it can be hard predict the exact time of a flower blossom, we anticipate Mother’s Day weekend (May 10th) to be a time when at least some peonies are available for purchase or admiration in the field. Throughout the month of May the various shades of pink and white flowers will be harvested for their long lasting cut flower stems. Historically, prior to innovative shipping methods that occurred following the second World War, ponies were valued as a cut flower due to their long-lasting nature where few other varieties were available. It is a flower that inspires feelings of nostalgia to many of those who visit the farm at this time of year. Please come and see what these grand flowers are all about this year, or, if you are someone who has been waiting for the time of year and watching out for our Peony sign at Jefferey Road, be warned the time has come!
On Saturday, May 10th Tangleweed Farm invites you to come to the farm to celebrate Mom, Peonies and all the up-coming season will have to offer at the farm. We hope you will drop by in order to obtain information about what we will be growing this year, take a walk around the farm, browse a selection of herbs for sale by Donna Tanner, taste a few samples of local, artisan goat cheeses by Soledad Goats, sample specialty oil and vinegars that will be available at the farm throughout the year, sample products from J & J Grassfed Beef, browse a selection of hand woven Italian linenes for sale, and most importantly, take home a bundle of peonies for mom.
It is true this is the time of year in Tehachapi when we all can finally get out and enjoy the outdoors and there is plenty to do each Saturday. Please make time to drop in and see us on the 10th of May between 10 and 4. If you cannot make it due to prior engagements, don’t forget the flowers are blooming throughout the month of May and are available each Wednesday and Saturday as the bouquets last.
Looking forward to seeing you in May and throughout 2008!
