Spring Greens

Filed under:Produce Update — EricaDM at 1:56 am on Friday, April 22, 2011

As Spring creeps into Tehachapi with wind and snow and fog and clouds and sprinkles of precipitation also slowly creeping its way to life has been the crop of spring greens.  Our first cutting of arugula was on Wednesday and this weekend will be another harvest of the first of the spring crop at Tangleweed.  Lovingly protected beneath row covers that try to blow away with every constant wind we endure, these first spring crops are so precious as we have waited so long to our locally grown, optimally fresh and flavorful produce to return to the farm and garden.  Please do come and enjoy, but realize the supplies will be limited as it is still early.  The more sun and warmth, the more lettuce, arugula, spinach for all!

A few stems of tulips will be available this weekend too….

Lettuce?  It does not hurt to check and see if you can get your hands on some…it is optimal “baby” size now.

Thank you for your continued support and looking forward to another wonderful season!

Spinach Salad with Pomegranate and Pears

*80z. of washed spinach, 1/2 a container of*  Soledad fresh goat cheese, 2 anjou pears sliced thin, macadamia nuts toasted(or nut of your choice),*1 seeded pomegranate.   Toss with vinaigrette dressing  just before serving. Beautiful for the holidays.

Dressing:* 1/3 pomegranate balsamic vinegar to 2/3 good quality virgin olive oil mixed. Also,  if you were lucky to get a bottle of the* Ollalieberry Vinaigrette this is the best on this salad.

We cherish you all, and once again are so very thankful for your continued support of the farm.  Mostly at this time, we are thankful for the many special friendships John and I are blessed with in so many of you. Love and God’s continued blessings to you all.
