Farmer’s Market days are scheduled to begin next week on the 29th of May. Tangleweed Farm looks forward to re-uniting with our customers that seek out our product at this event. Starting next week, don’t forget you can come for flowers, lettuce and all other beautifully and locally grown items at our market stand in Railroad Park from 4pm-7pm.

While it is too early in the growing season for some of the items pictured above on our table from last year’s market, you may always expect us to bring flowers of some kind, starting with the end of the peony harvest next week. The summer months are a grand time to treat yourself or loved ones to fresh cut flowers that were freshly harvested in your own community. Please visit our Crops and Gardens page for a full listing of what additional produce you may expect throughout this season and our Produce in Season page for what is being harvested right now.
See you at the Farmer’s Market!
The farm will be open on Wednesdays from now on starting next week on April 23rd. Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm will remain as our regular business hours for the season. If these hours do not suit your schedule, we hope the Farmer’s Market on Thursday evenings will provide an alternative or additional time to access our produce. Feel free to contact us an let us know if we may better serve you. We find satisfaction in providing those who appreciate what we have with our unique goods.
It’s time to enjoy another season of Tehachapi grown produce together!
While snow will still fall and crops are still at risk to factors including frosts and pests, the season is coming around again for regular farm stand business. Tangleweed intends to remain open each Saturday from now on to accommodate meat, cheese, coffee, oil/vinegar, jam, fudge sauce, granola, flower and produce sales. A few discounted gift items are still available as we phase out this element of the business operation in order to place more energy and emphasis into bringing fresh produce to our customers this year. The farm will be open again on Wednesdays once the produce quantities pick up with warmer growing conditions. We also intend to be present for the local Farmer’s Market once it begins for the season.
The winter/spring standard crops of greens will be offered as long a possible throughout the next month or so. We are now waiting on the emergence of new seedlings to provide quantities of greens and root veggies as May approaches. The earliest blossoms have now opened at the farm in the form of various daffodils and we are only weeks away from an exciting tulip, iris and peony harvest. Come enjoy the farm throughout all stages of the growing season this year. It is a grand example of all that can be grown in this high desert mountain region where wind and drought bring challenges other California farmers are unfamiliar with.
Hoping Tangleweed is a weekly shopping stop each Saturday from now on. Feel free to drop an email if you need us to hold something aside for you. There ought to be enough lettuce for everyone at least for the next week or two.
This is my friendly attempt to inform you all about what to expect from the farm as the final days of the season wear on and the threat of a killing frost lingers about while Thanksgiving approaches.
Regular Wednesday and Saturday produce is coming to an end to some extent. Don’t expect anything, is my suggestion, but also check in to see if you luck out and the place is packed full of fresh greens. Your current head-picker is soon going to be less available, cold days will take out some of the produce any day now, and picking will become a much harder chore with frost and snow complicating things. But, as I said, it doesn’t hurt to check, especially if you are already coming to gather up your favorite beef and dairy products that ought to remain available throughout the winter, or dropping in for some holiday shopping.
Energy is being diverted to the Holiday Gift Boutique this time of year at the farm. Currently undergoing an intensive re-model and re-stocking episode, the shop will re-open for holiday shopping starting Friday November 23rd and continue through Christmas. Don’t forget to ask about Abby’s Pies when you stop by in November and December.
Always feel free to email or call if you have any additional questions. I know it can be hard to keep up with our ever-changing and diversified operation.

Volunteer Campanula flowers popped up beneath some of the rose bushes this fall inspiring enthusiasm for next year’s cut flower crops. Look forward to beautiful fresh blossoms like these in early summer and tulips in May. I only mention the tulips because I just finished planting near 1000 bulbs!
Tangleweed will no longer open on Thursdays and Fridays for the remainder of the 2007 season due to a shortage in available produce. This should not impact the many devoted customers who arrive promptly on Wednesday and Saturday to get their weekly goods. In addition, as the weather changes some items may be available only as conditions permit. Often it is difficult to get things picked in the cold wind and before long a hard frost will impact a majority of our offerings until next spring. Come and get it while you still can on Wednesdays and Saturdays!
Please take note that Tangleweed Farm will no longer be attending Farmer’s Market on Thursdays. The farm will be open regular business hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday through Saturday.
